This website is new. It is for the people of Canberra. Austcom supplies this technology at no charge because we believe that it is local communities that bare the brunt of global and local challenges and it is local communities that will manage them.
Politicians, economists and scientist may supply some useful tools and resources but even the best tools do not use themselves.
The solutions will come from local arts and craft groups, health, food and housing groups. Youth, Womens, Mens and religious groups and local businesses.

Austcom is seeking action teams for Canberra. The teams will be at the disposal of other community groups to provide action where needed; - Food planting teams.

If you are interested in fast direct action let us know. What we do not want you to do is to have to sit through regular endless planning meetings (We all know that Canberra has that covered !). What we do need is fast decisive action for community groups that have the plans but not resources to implement them.
We are seeking energetic, youthful, fun seekers. You do not need to commit any amount of regular time. Simply join up and will post activities to you that you can pick and choose from.

Austcom/GetUp conference 11th October - Practical Skills For Change
Austcom and GetUp present a series of talks and Workshops on practical skills for change. Registration will open soon, stay posted....
I recently visited the GetUp office in Sydney. Within the first 10 seconds I was overwhelmed with action. Four or five rooms full of people tapping on laptops, campaigning on phones, getting the job done.
These guys are making a better world for us all. They are empowering themselves to deal with the issues this country faces, and it was clear, they were feeling dam good for it.
